9-29-11 Photo of the Day

I thought I would add a splash of color to my blog.   Taken on Sunday at the London tattoo convention, it was like fishing in a barrel.

9-27-11 Photo of the Day

Here are six more images from the Tattoo convention. I highly recommend to go to one if you like taking photos of people.  They all seem to be comfortable being photographed and its impossible to take a bad shot.

9-23-11 Photo of the Day

Sleeping ....  Parks are a wonderful place to take photos, and to reminisce about the good old days.  I remember growing up in Brooklyn and going to Prospect Park on Sundays to ride my bike and to listen to the NY Mets baseball the radio....  It also reminds me of the song "Those were the days" By Mary Hopkin

9-20-11 Photo of the Day

Shot at the Liverpool tube station, I think its awesome how you have such a big fruit stand at a tube station.  Being from NYC, you don't really see things like this.. I waited for a reaction from the owner ... I may have missed that key reaction.

9-17-11 Photo of the Day

Taken on my way to work this week, I like the image which is why you guys are seeing it, but I wish I would have had a better depth of field.... This image could have looked better if I had an aperture of F11 instead of F4.

9-16-11 Photo of the Day

Day at the races ...  When I saw that older lady in a wheelchair I waited till she got close to the little boy in the stroller then took the shot.  I wanted it to look like a drag race... it seems like the older lady is winning by a cane =)

9-15-11 Photo of the Day

While waiting for a bus I saw this interesting chap walk by.... I took a quick snap.  In my mind he is a famous Jazz musician on his way to his next gig.

9-13-11 Photo of the Day

What I find interesting about this shot is, the level of clothing people are wearing.  You got t-shirt and sort of shorts to a winter jacket on the left side of the frame. Then you have my main subject who is dressed for fall, and this was taken in the middle of summer about a month ago.  What caught my eye was his bike to be honest ... This was taken at the Liverpool train station in London.

9-12-11 Photo of the Day

The main character in this photo is the old lady sitting down on the right side of the image.  I loved her look and how she was so mesmerized by the tall guy walking by her.  I should have gotten closer but the scene presented itself to me really quickly and I didn't have time to move in.

9-11-11 Photo of the Day

This was shot a few days ago at the Euston train station in London. I saw the little boy tugging on his moms jacket and she was talking to her husband (the man to her left in a leather jacket).  I went to take a shot and at the split second she turned away from her husband and looked right at me. Oh well...  I find Bus and train stations to be great locations for people photos, they are so busy trying to catch the mode of transportation that you go unnoticed ... unless you are me =) again oh well.

9-10-11 Photo of the Day

Have you ever heard the saying "When you need a cop they are nowhere in sight" Well last weekend in the Chinatown district I knew where some were =)  The rain was coming down pretty good and everyone was under some type of cover trying to stay dry.  I found these four talking under a construction platform. I raised my camera to take a photo  and their reaction was to  either turned away, closed their eyes or laughed. I like the laughing cop....

9-9-11 Photo of the Day

This is Harry Marrington, I met Harry yesterday at the Victoria train station in London. Harry served with the Royal Navy during World War II, he brought the 29th Division to Omaha beach on D-Day.  Harry told me his role in bringing the men to the beach and how the attack unfolded in front of him ....  Harry I salute you and all the men and women who have served in the armed forces.  Thank you

9-8-11 Photo of the Day

While on a bus I saw these guys, I took a few quick shots through the window.  I wish I was on the street at the time, I knew I could have made a different shot, but I like this one.   This was shot with my 24mm 2.8 lens ... I always have my camera with me and its always at the ready, no matter where I am, because you never know when a photo is going to present itself to you.

9-7-11 Photo of the Day

Yesterday was a dismal shooting day... I could not make a good photo if my life depended on it.  On the way home I sat sort of across from this other photographer that was making pictures left and right, not sure if they were any good or not, but he was busy snapping away.  I was using my D300 with a 24mm 2.8 prime lens.  I believe the settings were ISO 400 at 80th of a second. I waited for the train to stop moving so I could get a clear shot. I admired that fact that he didn't have a care in the world if people noticed him photographing them, of which people did notice, and no one said anything. His camera Nikon D3s with a 24-70 2.8 lens.

9-6-11 Photo of the Day

This guy is on a mission... he was moving quickly and I didn't have time to change my settings, I knew the shutter was going to be way too slow to freeze him so I panned and was lucky to get his face in focus.  This was shot at F9 at 20th of a second at ISO320.

9-5-11 Photo of the Day

I took this shot while walking through China town... not much to tell, I like her expression, and from the photo its hard to tell but she was looking at me when I took this shot.

9-4-11 Photo of the Day

They look like a fun couple!!!  It seems like for no reason they bought these really different hats and decided to wear them in public.  Was it a bet they lost? Did they just come from watching the Lion King? Did they drink too much during lunch who knows... But I do admire the fact that they have guts to wear those hats in public.  Good for them =)

9-3-11 Photo of the Day

Hey everyone.... I am going to start posting on Sat and Sunday as well and see how that goes.  This shot was taken on Friday, she is doing a remarkable job at apply makeup while the tube is running.  Now when I was living in Washington DC, and I drove to work, I would see women apply makeup while they drove on the GW Parkway... which if any of you have ever driven the parkway it's a mad house during rush hour traffic.  Im sure a few fender benders were caused by these makeup ladies.

PS I waited for the tube to stop before I took this shot.

9-1-11 Photo of the Day

Im starting to like this look... I wish the guy with the white t-shirt didn't walk by at the moment I was taking her photo but you can still see a clear eye so not all was lost.  I like the layered look...
