2-17-12 Photo of the Day

Here is a photo I shot back in 2004 in Sweetgrass Montana, I was lost for about two hours driving around dirt roads with no street signs and I came across this church.  I love this shot ... a few years later I went back to this part of the country and found the church and took more shots but I can't seem to find those images... but this still remains my favourite shot.

  1. Its a kind of high key architecture shot. If it was B&W I should think Walker Evans 1935. The longer you look the better it is. By the way what a nuisance
to proof you are not a robot.

  5. Beautiful shot, Gerry. A very interesting style, so unlike anything else I've seen of yours. Hope you're having fun in Milan!

  6. Beautiful shot with lovely colour tones. Reminds me of the old 'American Gothic' painting by Grant Wood (without the severe old couple in front of course).

I would have cloned those birds off of the lines in photoshop. (or scared them away at the time LOL)

  7. I just realized the "robot" reference from s.c., is the comments verification process, "Please prove you're not a robot." It is kind of a pain - I have to reload multiple times before I find one that I can actually read...

For what it's worth, I turned that off for my comments and have never had a problem with spam...

  8. S.C I just realized what you were talking about... I did not know you had to do the word thing to prove you were not a robot Im sorry I will see how to shut that off. It is a pain... This shot was taken when I was still in the photojournalism days and I hated taking photos of people... so I would go out of my way to take photos with no people in it. I was lost in this situation so no worries about people being in it.

Hey Bill I thought about cloning the birds and the telephone wires but its how the scene looked when I was there so it stayed. Its one of my favorite shots
