2-9-12 Photo of the Day

Hello everyone, well as you can tell I have been posting some older images, I have been so busy and the weather has sucked so much that I haven't shot in a while.  Tomorrow I leave for Milan for a week to visit my wife who is working there for 6 weeks. I will not be posting any of my Milan shots till I get back... only bringing one camera one lens and no computer... so lots of compact flash cards =)  Todays image was shot about six or seven years ago... at the request of a dear friend to photograph his grandfathers funeral.  His grandfather was a war hero and a distinguished gentleman, this is shot at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington VA. It was my honor to do this for him and his family.

  1. Very well done and fitting photograph. Perfectly captured the dignity of the occasion and the composition makes a pretty powerful impression of farewell along that final path that we all eventually take. Your friend should be proud.

  2. Extremely powerful image and very tastefully done, Gerry. As Mike notes the composition is perfect -- leading the viewer into the image and taking us out on the inevitable path life takes us on. I know Arlington National Cemetary has special meaning for you -- this image is a fitting tribute and touching memory.

  4. Framing, spacing of the procession and capturing the mood all contribute to creating a very moving composition.
