1-2-12 Photo of the Day

I took this photo on New Years Eve in Camden by the tube station. He is a good piano player and was  animated when he played. He was outside a store that sold junk, well junk in my book the typical tourist trap.  I hope I can photograph him again I would have loved to have taken some close ups of his hands but didn't have the right lens with me.  Hope everyone had a wonderful New Years ....

  1. Its great to get shots of musicians in action. I like this guys standing 'Jerry Lee lewis' stance. He sounds good even from a photograph... therefore, good photography!

    Happy New Year.

  2. Hey Bill, thanks and Happy New year... he was a good piano player not the Jerry Lee Lewis type but good none the less.

  3. (My comments keep disappearing...)

Anyway, great shots - he's very expressive and animated. One of the things I love about city life is the potential to just walk down the street and experience random art and/or music - of course, one of the things I dislike is sitting on the subway and having it forced on me :-)

  4. These have a real 1930's look with the old piano and the newsboys cap. Was he playing some honky tonk or ragtime? Capturing little snippets of urban life - nice, Gerry.

  5. Hey George, he was playing blues but it was a little upbeat. Those hats are big here in the UK, Im not sure if its coming back or if they have always been in style.

Hey Mike sorry to hear you had a hard time posting a comment on my blog... I appreciate the effort =) Like you I dislike being forced to listen to music on the tube or subway.

  6. Love the images, Gerry. Having the two together shows the energy this 'Piano Man' had during his performance. Your angle on the shots is great giving us more of his facial expressions. Nice ones!

  7. VERY Camden! Lovely animated shots. And re: the hats - they've always been in style - I've got several like that!
