2-1-12 Photo of the Day

I had reservations on putting this up because the guy with the ladder isn't in focus but what I like about the image is that he is in the same pose as the poster next to him, and she is in focus =) Anyway have a great day everyone and sorry for the sporadic postings.

1-26-12 Photo of the Day

I shot this over the summer ... I was extremely close to him I used a wide angle lens I think it was shot at 18mm or it could be 24mm, with such a wide lens I was pointing it out the window but still got him in the shot which is what I wanted. He was wearing earphones so couldn't hear my camera click well at least thats what I think lol.  Im starting to show older images because Im trying to build up some newer photos and Im changing my style a little and so far Im not producing images that I can be posted on this site.  I will get there hopefully =)

1-25-12 Photo of the Day

This photo was taken over the summer on one of our photo walks to Brighton Beach UK.  If anyone is interested in joining our photo walks please let me know and I will give you info on our next one.  We pick sections of London or the UK and walk around, take photos and talk shop.  Its a fun day to be with like minded people.

Hey all, I know somewhat of a similar look to yesterdays photo... it seems like those long trench coats catch my attention. I like the flowing look to them but I need to focus on other then trench coats.

This was taken on Friday by the US Embassy ... I liked how his trench coat was fluttering in the wind...Im not sure if i captured that movement, its what I was going after... slim pickings as far as street photos this weekend I hope to do better this week.  I hope everyone had a good weekend and Happy Chinese New Year everyone.  Im not Chinese but I celebrate all holidays =)

1-20-12 Photo of the Day

I shot this while on a moving bus, since I have my camera out most of the time it was a quick adjustment and then made the exposer. I knew I had a small window to take the shot (time wise not actual window)... it was a hit or miss ... I got the shot but I would have liked her left leg to have been extended I like the feel of her movement as appose to mine.

1-19-12 Photo of the Day

Its unusual for me to post a photo with no people but I have been wanting to do some night photography and I got the chance last night with fellow blogger CC ... this was shot at a 30th of a second at F22 ISO200 and for those of you who don't know this structure its of St Paul's in London.  You can see some awesome photos on the web of the church during WWII, everything around it is on fire and you can see the dome of St. Paul's untouched.

1-18-12 Photo of the Day

Shot over the summer... Im not a big fan of English winter... gray and rainy which is what its doing today.  On days like today I wish I had a small camera like the Ricoh GRD iii or IV instead of the clunky D300..Oh well one can wish right =)

1-16-12 Photo of the Day

The expression on her face and the way the sheep and bull stools are looking at her is hilarious ... yes I know the stools aren't really looking at her but in my mind they are =)  Shot at Greenwich Market yesterday... a cold but sunny day.

1-13-12 Photo of the Day

I like this photo because there is a lot going on... from two of the four people looking up and I have no idea why... I like how the dog is checking out the lady eating... maybe hoping for some food to fall... if you look at the reflection in the window you will see a blond standing looking to photo left... that is the famous CC, I follow her blog "Look this way" so if you are interested in seeing her images you can get there from my main page.

1-12-12 Photo of the Day

As you all can tell this isn't a street photograph ... I shot this at the London Wetlands this past Saturday, it was a beautiful day and the sun set was awesome. We don't get many beautiful sunsets in London, they are mostly covered in clouds.  Anyway this was one of about 50 photographers I saw that day and each with good equipment ... I saw quite a few with 400mm 2.8 lens and a few with 500 and 600mm F4 lens. Now just because they had nice equipment doesn't mean they were good or got good shots... I strongly believe that it's not the equipment that makes the photographer it's the photographers eye that makes it =) My friend Jim can do more with a point and shoot then most people can do with a DSLR.

1-11-12 Photo of the Day

I spotted this two young ladies yesterday on Regents street.. the first thing that came to mind was ouch, that must hurt sitting like that on the bike. They knew I was taking there photo and I timed it right... well it was luck that the bus was behind them like that but it was a fraction of a percent that the timing was right =) remember "Luck is when opportunity meets preparedness"I had my camera set on continuos focus and I had a high enough ISO and shutter speed to freeze the action.   By the way thanks Jeff for the saying.

1-5-12 Photo of the Day

This was shot about a month ago... at the lighting of the Banbuy Christmas tree... the whole town came out it was very festive.  No shots of the lighting because I didn't have a good vantage point but I did manage to take this shot of people standing in line to eat at this fish and chips place, well I am assuming its a fish and Chips place, I can't see people lining up to buy fish ... anyway this is todays shot.  Banbury is about an hours drive north of London.

1-4-12 Photo of the Day

Yesterdays rain... Its London and it rains almost every day well at least its suppose too, but lately its been wonderful, mostly sunny skies and the occasional rain.  Yesterday it rained for about half the day but at one point the skies opened up and it poured.... I was in a doorway to a restaurant so I had limited view and I didn't want my camera to get soaked so I stayed put till it was over.  I was trying to capture the high winds and was hoping to get a collapsed umbrella but that didn't happen, I got a broken umbrella instead lol.  Oh an I've been using my 50mm 1.8 lens lately, not sure why but I am.

1-3-12 Photo of the Day

I shot this in the Camden area, not sure the name of the street, I was on a photo walk with a friend..The weather has been wonderful in London this year as you can tell by the lack of thick coats in the photo.  Last December it was bitterly cold !!!!

1-2-12 Photo of the Day

I took this photo on New Years Eve in Camden by the tube station. He is a good piano player and was  animated when he played. He was outside a store that sold junk, well junk in my book the typical tourist trap.  I hope I can photograph him again I would have loved to have taken some close ups of his hands but didn't have the right lens with me.  Hope everyone had a wonderful New Years ....
